Today’s zoos have changed and become modernised. Increasingly, animals are presented in parks recreating their natural habitat, so that residents are kept in the best possible conditions.
In Jurques, the mouflons’ mountain is a perfect example of this: you will see the animals that live there doing acrobatics on the edge of a 40 metre high cliff, as if you were in the heights of the Moroccan Atlas.
The role of zoos is to allow visitors to discover species of animals, but also to make people aware of the world around us, and the necessity of protecting this fragile planet.
For many years, zoos have been embarking on different breeding programmes, becoming veritable genetic reservoirs over the years.
